Meet the Masters: Karen Simmonds

Get Karen up and running and you won’t stop her combination of brute force and ignorance! We suspect, though, there’s more to her success than she’s admitting! Finishing the Open in 2nd place on the UK and European leaderboards, she’s concentrating on enjoying the ride in 2017.

Meet the Masters: Colm McCoy

Colm can certainly out lift the endurance athlete he used to be, but his  proudest achievement is being able to throw down in pair comps with his son. He’s currently battling it out for a top 3 place on the 55-59 UK Open Leaderboard.

Meet the Masters: Ed Whieldon

Ed is a Coach at CrossFit® 3D, Director for Raising the Bar and doing quite nicely in the Open (he’s  targeting a top 50 UK finish). He balances all this alongside a full-time job and his ambition to be a fit dad through his forties!

Masters of the Universe: Jacinto Bonilla

Jacinto Bonilla is a CrossFit® institution. He’s been to the Games three times and is the oldest ever to do so. Coach and Box Owner at CrossFit® 1939 (the Box name gives you a clue to his age), he even has his own Wod – “Jacinto Storm”!

Meet the Masters: Liam Holborn

Liam is currently the top ranked UK Master (35-39) in the Open. Even more impressive is his worldwide win in 17.1 and current 11th position in the World!

Low Down on the Throwdown! (17.5)

The Masters United Facebook group organised a series of two throwdowns featuring top UK Masters to take place after the release of Open workouts 17.3 and 17.5.

The first was on the 11th march at the Fitness Hub Cheltenham*

The Masters pushed each other on to some great results and you can be sure of the same at CrossFit® Oswestry on Saturday as the Open comes to a close with 17.5.

Here’s the lowdown on those throwing down! The female Masters will be getting things started from 11am onwards.

Meet the Masters: Paul Hopper

Paul has had to take his Camille posters down since his wife started Crossfitting with him in his garage but he’s looking forward to hitting top form in 2017 and replicating the successes he’s had as part of Team JST (winning Strength in Depth 3 years in a row).

Mastering the Open: 17.4 UK Masters Round Up

17.3 was about saying goodbye to a new friend and hello to an old one. Goodbye Dumbbells (wonder if we’ll see you again this year?) and hello Barbell. With Squat Snatches, Castro was testing Masters strength, mobility and skill. Would 17.3 shake-up the leaderboards? The UK still has one worldwide leader, three in their respective […]
