The CrossFit Liftoff began last Thursday, Nov. 30. Since then, athletes have been completing the published workout in addition to their heaviest snatch and clean and jerk. There was no time cap on the lifts and athletes were allowed to make as many attempts as they wanted before the end date of Monday 4th December.
The categories were the same as the Open and Masters started 35+, 40-44+ etc to 60+.

Each division also includes the following weight classes (body weight in pounds):

  • Men: 135/150/165/180/195/210/225/226+

  • Women: 110/120/130/140/150/160/170/171+

Event 1: 1 rep max Snatch
Event 2: 1 rep max Clean & Jerk
Event 3: Workout –
Complete as many rounds as possible in 12 minutes of:
25 pull-ups
50-calorie row
100 overhead squats
50 box jumps
25 pull-ups

As it currently stands, the UK has one worldwide winner and one runner-up!

Congratulations to some of our past interviewees from the UK and Europe – David Hippensteel won the Liftoff (60+) and Giulio Silvino won the Liftoff (45-49)

Not a Master, but a special mention goes to UK Teen sensation and past interviewee, Murtaza Nadeem. He came 1st worldwide in the Teens 16/17 category and 1st in the UK for Men! He did it with a 125KG snatch, a 145KG clean and jerk and 309 reps for the workout. Check out his highlights on Facebook.

Laura was also 2nd in Europe and 35th in the World.
David was also 5th in Europe and 32nd in the World.

40-44 UK Rankings
Kelly was also 3rd in Europe and 2nd in the World (due to scoring system – greater number of participants and the workout element / pound for pound calculations).
Dadi was also 1st in Europe and 18th in the World.

45-49 UK Rankings
Karen was also 2nd in Europe and 45th in the World.
Michael was also 4th in Europe and 91st in the World.

50-54 UK Rankings
No scores were entered for UK female participants.
Patrick Murray made a clean sweep, coming 1st in Europe and Worldwide!

55-59 UK Rankings
No scores were entered for UK female participants.
Robert was also 1st in Europe and 43rd in the World.

60+ UK Rankings
Wendy was also 1st in Europe and 12th in the World.
No scores were entered for UK female participants.
